Public Consultation

Have your say on the future of Ellesmere Market Hall

Ellesmere Market Hall has been at the heart of our town for over 150 years; a place for shopping, meeting, and celebrating local life.
Project SY12 CIC has worked hard to manage and revitalise the Market Hall since 2022, helping it grow into a vibrant space with 28 permanent traders, regular events, and a renewed sense of community.

As part of the next stage in its development, we’re inviting residents, visitors, and local businesses to share their views through our Market Hall Consultation 2025.
Your feedback will help shape future plans, including the possibility of a long-term lease extension or asset transfer from Shropshire Council to Project SY12 CIC; ensuring that the Market Hall remains a locally-managed, community-owned space for years to come.

🌟 What this consultation is about

We want to understand:

  • How people use the Market Hall; whether as shoppers, visitors, or community members.
  • What’s working well, and what could be improved.
  • Whether the community supports a locally-managed future through Project SY12 CIC.
  • What facilities, services, and activities people would like to see in the years ahead.

This information will help us evidence the public value and community benefit of the Market Hall; a key step in securing investment and ensuring the building’s long-term sustainability.

🗣️ How you can take part

It only takes a few minutes to share your views.

👉 Complete the short consultation online

If you’re unable to complete it online, our team will be in the Market Hall on the next six market days, collecting feedback in person and answering any questions about the project.

Your opinions; whether you live locally, trade here, or simply visit Ellesmere; will directly inform discussions with Shropshire Council and Ellesmere Town Council about the Hall’s future.

🏠 Looking ahead – Introducing The Hub

As part of this consultation, we’re also exploring the idea of creating “The Hub” — a dedicated point of contact within the Market Hall offering:

  • Resident and community information
  • Visitor and tourism advice
  • Local business and networking support
  • Event listings & Ticket selling, volunteering opportunities, and local updates

We’d love to know if you would find this useful, and what services you’d like to see included. Your feedback will help us shape The Hub’s design and purpose.

❤️ Why your voice matters

This is more than a survey; it’s a chance to help shape Ellesmere’s future.
Every response helps us show how important the Market Hall is to the people who use it, and strengthens the case for continued community management.

Together, we can ensure that the Market Hall remains a thriving space; for residents, traders, and visitors alike.
